Cellular providers are feeling the pain of cellular backhaul, as it consumes nearly 30 to 40 percent of their total operation expenditures. On top of this, they frequently depend on copper-based T1 lines that are slow to provision and do not scale well. Current cellular backhaul expenditures by U.S. cellular carriers are approximately $2 billion. By providing cellular carriers highly scalable, lower cost and faster Ethernet, that is compatible with existing T1 lines, cable operators have a great advantage in tapping into new revenue.
CCI and Cisco's upcoming webinar, How to Capture Cellular Backhaul Revenue, will show you how. On Thurs., May 27, at 1 p.m. EST, Kimberly Whittaker, Systems Engineer in the Telco-named region supporting CenturyLink, along with CCI’s Todd Gingrass, Vice President of Network Technology, will teach attendees how to deploy fiber-based Ethernet access network products for transporting cellular services from a wireless base station or cell tower to the cable headend.
